The use of telehealth for primary care is increasing steadily as many look to receive care on their own time and on their own terms for not only the occasional vacation emergency but for annual checkups and ongoing care.
Healthcare IT News forecasts the trend for such a rise as “virtual care has replicated many aspects of traditional health provisions now efficiently and effectively delivered remotely, shifting the site of care from the physician’s office into the home.”
A leader in telemedicine, Teladoc, offered at no additional cost to all Christian Brothers Employee Benefit and Religious Medical Trust members (EBT and RMT), now offers Primary360, giving access to virtual primary care that does not sacrifice the continuity of long-term care or the familiarity of a participant’s regular doctor.
Primary360 is the new virtual primary care benefit that can help you take charge of your health by scheduling virtual annual checkups or ongoing care with a doctor of your choice.
Expert Brian William Hasselfeld, M.D., of Johns Hopkins Medicine, maintains that regular visits with primary care practitioners is essential to a person’s health and that telemedicine makes it easier to adhere to a regular schedule.
Primary360 will allow you to choose a board-certified doctor of your choice, most with an average of 15 years of experience, and develop a relationship with over time. This program is ideal for those who don't currently have a primary care provider or who see their primary care provider less often than they should.
You can activate your benefit by scheduling an annual checkup by visiting mycbs.org/health; using the Teladoc app or by calling 800.TELADOC. You will have access to ongoing care that can be scheduled in advance; unlimited messaging with a dedicated Care Team and provides:
Annual checkups and preventative care
Referrals to in-network specialists
Prescriptions
Lab orders and recommended screenings
Support with common conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and mental health
You can use Primary360:
If in need of a Primary Doctor.
To establish a long-term relationship with a doctor.
To schedule primary care visits on your own time, in as little as five days.
To take control of your health and wellness.
If distance makes an office visit difficult.
If on a trip in the U.S.
How it works:
Log into your account at mycbs.org/health and click "My Teladoc," or register via Teladoc.com/800.835.2362.
Scroll through in-network primary care providers on the Teladoc app to see bios and pictures to find the best fit.
You will receive a blood pressure monitor (which is yours to keep) in advance of visit and complete a health assessment, family history and submit any questions you would like to discuss.
During the appointment, you can discuss medical history/concerns. If needed, the physician can order testing and make referrals.
Based on the visit, a dedicated care team creates a personalized care plan to meet your health goals which includes any labs ordered, recommendations, health goals, etc., which adjusts over time based on individual needs.
Stay on track to meet your health goals by reaching out to your care team for outreach and support, available at any time.
